Mulligatawny soup is the most popular soup in Indian restaurants, all over the world. It started off originally as a vegetarian soup, which derived its name from two Tamil (South Indian language) words, «molegoo» (pepper) and «thanni» (water).
It became so popular with the Britons living in the Imperial Raj, that they brought the recipe back home with them and adapted it to their tastes over time, like adding chicken to it.
This soup, which includes vegetables, lentils and rice is not only very nutritious, it’s also a great comfort food. You can easily recreate this exotic taste at home, provided you have some good homemade broth and curry.
